Running Group Info

Busselton has attempted on several occasions to start a running group for fellow minded fitness enthusiasts.  Each attempt has been a little hit and miss as so many runners appear to be attached to other sports and can only fit so many training days in a week.  I put out a call a little while ago to gauge the interest in formalising a run club with regular runs/training sessions, and the response was moderate but sufficient to warrant some action on my part to make this happen.  With over half the field at the recent Busselton Half Marathon/Community Fun Run being locals, I figure there are more people out there that would appreciate some informal shoulder rubbing with fellow runners, and to this end I have decided to push on.

At this stage it is intended to hold run a session on a Wednesday evening at 5:45pm, with runs of up to 1 hour and longer run in the hills Sunday AM, if there is enough interest.  .   See the list of training sessions for more info.

All you need to bring along is a smile, energy and be ready to run.  There will be no intimidation and beginners are welcome even if you are a walk/run wannabe – we all had to start somewhere.

For the more experienced runners there will be some challenging sessions should you choose to take part.

DISTANCE MARKERS
The dual use path has been calibrated by “yours truly” at 500m intervals starting at the exit to the car park and heading West past the hospital.  The markings are on the left side of the path and follow the “JETS 0.5, JETS 1KM, JETS 1.5KM” format up to 5KM and are white.  In the Easterly direction heading towards the jetty there are markers every 100m up to 800m which can be used for interval training.  Whilst I prefer not to promote running for distance, better to run for time, these markers are there for your convenience so please enjoy.

This will be the birth of the official “Busselton Jets Running Group” and members of all standards are welcome.

At this stage there is no cost to attend.
